Latin is one of those bodies of knowledge that should be assimilated early in one’s education. The vocabulary alone would make it worth it, as well as the exposure to ideas and thoughts from 2000 years ago that often echo our own.

One of the things I notice as I get older is how unique people, specifically younger people, think their situations or predicaments are. It seems to me there is room in the 12 years of required classroom attendance to refute that idea. The drama, verse, and speeches of those times are not so different from our own in their content. The history of Rome, both it’s rise and fall, especially when examines the people and their motives, should be instructive.
