Well, that didn’t last long. I’m back on FireFox 2, after a couple of hours on the beta of Safari 3.
It didn’t work for me for a couple of reasons. While it was plenty fast and looked/felt fine to use, it
- didn’t work with eBay properly (surely someone must have tested that?). I had to turn on the debug menu and change my user-agent to make that work.
- it also didn’t work with wordpress.com: some issue with cookie handling that I couldn’t work out. I’d rather switch (back) than fight.
This is still just a beta, so it will have to get better. For now FireFox, with it’s proven stability/reliability and the myriad extensions for it, is the way to go. It will be interesting to see how it’s 3.0 version measures up. Will it look like a real Mac app with real Aqua UI elements? Will it work with the Keychain? Time will tell.
