Seattle Transportation – Burke-Gilman Trail Map, Grid 2
The Burke Gilman trail, formerly a railroad right-of-way, is a great place to take a bike out, as I continually discover. I have only explored the section on the linked map grid, from the access point at 70th Street to the one at 25th Avenue and Blakely.
Since it used to be a railroad line, it’s flat. Trains don’t like hills, and nor do I, so there’s a lot to like about the trail. It passes through some great neighborhoods (makes me wonder how they dealt with freight traffic rumbling by their backyards, and close to Lake Washington. Often crowded, but always a safe place to ride and people love to see young kids riding.
