My efforts to learn more about Darwin, the open source underpinnings of OS X, are not being rewarded.
I had some catastrophic problem last night, where the machine was forced into single user more: no networking. I couldn’t figure out to resolve its problems, didn’t even know what they were, so I had to reinstall from scratch. Those old 2x CD drives from 1995 are sure slow. . . . .
This of course means I have to reinstall of the fink packages: since some changes at sourceforge, where the project is hosted, are not reflected in the distribution, some shimming and trimming is required.
Running this: perl -pi -e “s#prdownloads.sourceforge.net#unc.dl.sourceforge.net#g” *
in ${wherever you untarred fink-source-full}/packages will fix the bad URLS.
The last thing I did was setup a startupitem to launch snmpd are boot time: I copied the one for sshd and edited it, but I can’t understand how that would be the problem.
