folding@home progress

I installed the folding@home client the other day.

In fact you see that it started working late on a Thursday night, when CPU utilization shot up to 100% and never dropped.

I would run more clients but there’s no support for FreeBSD or NetBSD: the linux client doesn’t play well with the compatibility layer in those OSes. It would probably be easier to fix that than port the codebase over, but I have not found any way of contacting the folks there about it.

It seems to take a day or so to do a workunit: that’s on an old 350 MHz machine. I’m sure the new G4s or newer Intel hardware are a bit more snappy.
