Maybe Jan 20 2009 is just another day

Looks like W reserves the right to occupy the White House as long as he feels it to be necessary.

Bush To Be Dictator In A Catastrophic Emergency:
 Images 2169 Georgebush

The Bush administration has released a directive called the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive. […] In this directive, Bush declares that in the event of a “Catastrophic Emergency” the President will be entrusted with leading the activities to ensure constitutional government. The language in this directive would in effect make the President a dictator in the case of such an emergency.

He’s willing to burn the Constitution in order to save it.

Mozy update

So far, a couple of folks have signed up and are using Mozy for their backups (thanks for using me as a referral).

How does it work for you? My impressions are pretty good: it seems to be a lot faster at restores than it was a couple of weeks back. I am currently doing a couple of tests of selective restores to see how it works with that, before I pony up for the unlimited plan and back up other systems here. At $4.95 per system, I need to make sure it’s really necessary. It adds up. I could back up locally to a central system (as I do now) then back that up, so I get all my backups done as one system. But I suspect I’ll do at least two.

Comments welcome, especially if you’re not finding it to meet your requirements. I’d like to know if I have missed something important 😉

gas prices to spike? Like a buck a gallon?

from a mailing list I get:

Daughter does market analysis, she called long
distance to warn me that oil just jumped $3.00 a
barrel, Gas prices are expected to pass $4.60 by
Friday morning. If you have a gas can, I suggest you
fill it. Oil Stocks will go crazy. She fears it may
jmp more then a dollar, as something huge is going on
in the middle east.

Interesting. Wonder what has happened/is happening?
