I want to both increase the storage on my iBook and improve it’s performance: a bigger, faster drive will do that.
But what to get? Hitachi TravelStars look like the best thing going. Anyone have any experience with them? Recommendations on something else?

You probably know, but Hitachi took over IBM’s drive business, so these are what used to be called IBM TravelStar drives. I’ve upgraded at least 4-5 PowerBooks with them, and had very good results in all cases.
One thing to consider is how you’re going to transfer the information from the old to the new drive. I have a PC Card and that came with one of the drives, and lets you have both drives mounted at the same time.
I didn’t but I confess I wondered if there was some licensing deal or something, what with them having the same name.
Glad to know they are a good choice. I’ll follow up and see what I can find.
